As part of the Kraft Art Discovery Program, Child’s Play assisted in the development and application of the Illinois Learning Standards for Fine Arts from 1999-2005. From 1999-2004, Child’s Play formed a partnership with the Cook County State Attorney's Office in their Violence Prevention Project, developing and providing workshops in economically disadvantaged schools in Chicago. Child’s Play was one of only two Illinois touring arts organizations to be chosen to be part of the Combined Federal Campaign’s Arts Federation.

Artistic Statement:

Child's Play Touring Theatre is a professional theater for young audiences which tours nationally, performing original plays and songs adapted from the writings of children. Our residency activities include both writing and drama, and we work with teachers to explore drama-based approaches to writing instruction. Residencies culminate in a production written and performed by children from the school. Students are involved in every aspect of this performance, including writing, acting, directing, music, choreography, and production design.
