William R. Olbrisch

Biography:

Bill Olbrisch graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in English Literature in 1996. That same year, he attended the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College. He spent all of 1997 traveling with Ringling Brothers as the circus’s advance clown. He has been a professional performer for more than a decade, performing his comedy juggling show as Biz the Clown, and acting in plays. In 2003, Bill became a teaching partner for Pros Arts Studio’s youth circus program. He is now an active teacher, directing student productions in both in-school residencies and after-school programs. He is able to lead students in many types of performances from traditional school plays to large circus style spectacles

Artistic Statement:

In both performances and teaching, Bill creates shows that are as entertaining to watch as they are to perform. He accomplishes this using traditional theater acting, clowning, and skill routines such as juggling. As a teacher and director of student productions, he strives to create shows that use the best skills available to each student. He works hard to make sure that every student is allowed a moment to shine at whatever part of the class they have responded to the strongest. His style of performance, with its heavy emphasis on movement and character, is ideal for educational settings and can stand on its own or can be integrated easily with specific educational goals.
