Artist / Program Description
The 1st Choice Big Band with award-winning vocalist Maureen Christine is touted by presenters as “one of the best performances of the season” and “thoroughly entertaining!” Audiences have praised the band’s “great sound quality,” “authentic big band style,” and Maureen Christine’s “delightful voice.” The 1st Choice Big Band features fourteen of the most talented jazz musicians in Chicagoland. The band’s director, Michael Bazan, is also a consummate jazz musician on alto and tenor saxophone. He has performed with such jazz greats as Cab Calloway and Billy Eckstine, and “America’s favorite performers” Bob Hope and Milton Berle. Singer Maureen Christine is a celebrated vocalist and national recording artist. She has recorded with Pete Christlieb of the Johnny Carson Tonight Show Orchestra, appeared in concert with pop star Barry Manilow, and won first place in the nation for an original song for United Way. Maureen enchants audiences with her “natural, expressive singing” (Nostalgia Times Radio) and “vivacious personality” (Conductor of Knox Symphony). Concerts can also include the “Holiday Harmonies," an Andrew Sisters-style female caroling trio.
The band offers specialized concerts:
