Artist / Program Description
Since 1985, the flute/piano duo of Carlyn Lloyd and Jon Warfel has performed over 750 concerts and educational programs throughout the country at concert halls, libraries, park districts, colleges, and elementary schools for children and adults. After consultation with the presenter, programs are individually tailored to the particular audience and draw from the standards of the classical repertoire, supplemented with lighter classical works. New programs for schools add piccolo, fife, and flutes, and music of Native-American and American composers.
In addition to traditional concert programs which emphasize American composers and their music, Lloyd and Warfel offer 45-minute programs for many ages and backgrounds. Bringing American history to life through music with selections from their latest CD, this duo presents their newest series, entitled American Made, which includes music of American composers from colonial times through the present. Something Old, Something New... and Encore! feature light classics and popular selections. Programs in December include selections from the Nutcracker Suite with narrative and visual aids. For St. Patrick’s Day, the duo presents Irish music complete with pennywhistles, jigs, and hornpipes.
