Artist / Program Description

Chicago a cappella is a classical vocal ensemble that moves the heart and spirit with fun, innovative concerts and impeccable musicianship. The nine-member group has been acclaimed as “world-class” (Fanfare Magazine) and “unusually fine...eclectic, enlightening and enjoyable” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch). These well-trained soloists bring their buoyant personalities to every live concert. As a group, they combine the intimacy of perfectly blended chamber music with true vocal power. Chicago a cappella’s repertoire sweeps across history and genre, ranging from the ninth to the 21st centuries, ingeniously programmed by Artistic Director Jonathan Miller to keep audiences on the edges of their seats.

Programs:
Baroque and Beatles: Brings two musical worlds together on your stage! It's an entertaining and powerful combination of all-vocal Beatles charts and brilliant works by Monteverdi, Schütz, and other masters of Baroque style.

Eclectric: Stunning new works by Chen Yi and Morten Lauridsen, serious and hilarious Scandinavian music, familiar standards such as The Nearness of You, spirituals and early music, and even the rock classic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Shakespeare a cappella: Celebrates the Bard with comic and tragic music by the finest choral composers of our time—from Shall I compare thee? and other sonnets to Witches' Blues.
