Artist / Program Description

Chocolate Chips Theatre Company's productions reflect Black experiences and are designed to entertain and educate youth while appealing to adult audiences. In residence at Kennedy-King College (City Colleges of Chicago), "Chips" has toured schools and cultural centers in the Chicagoland area and beyond. Chocolate Chips has been commissioned by cultural institutions to create original plays. The company received the "Hidden Jewel" Award from Jewel-Osco for its repertoire of historical plays, adaptions of folklore, presentations of children's writings, and plays with social themes. Chocolate Chips also offers exhilarating performing arts experiences through our Razzle Dazzle and Dazzle Institute workshops.

Productions:

A Few of My Sisters: An exciting, interactive journey through time with four fictional women who share experiences from four historically significant periods.

Brother Man: Celebrates black men from long-ago to the present, both the famous and the everyday.

A Day in Bronzeville: Black Life through the Eyes of Gwendolyn Brooks: Utilizes the poetry and prose of the former Poet Laureate to portray life in a Chicago neighborhood (company premiere).
