Artist / Program Description

Recipient of the Illinois Theatre Association’s Excellence in Children’s Theatre Award 2002, Imagination Theater (IT) is a not-for-profit, social issues organization that uses theater techniques to affect change in participants of all ages. Founded in 1966, IT remains committed to the principles that the creative arts are essential to the full development of the individual, that all people have the ability to express themselves creatively, and that theater has a unique capacity to communicate to all people, regardless of age or perceived abilities. In a single season, the company will reach out to more than 100,000 participants in 600 performances/workshops throughout Illinois.

Programs:

IT offers a wide-range of interactive social issues programming for children, adolescents, adults, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Presentations include:
Substance Abuse Prevention (What Now/No Ifs, Ands, or Butts)
Teasing/Conflict Resolution (Ease the Tease/Watcha Gonna Do About It?)
Sexual Abuse Prevention (Safe and Free/Touch/No Easy Answers)
Respect/Tolerance (Show Some Respect).

All programs are offered in age-appropriate versions (Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, HS, Adult).
