Artist / Program Description

Kidworks Touring Theatre Co. has opened the imaginations of over half-a-million children since 1987. Kidworks travels to schools, libraries, park districts, and community centers throughout Illinois, offering touring performances and a variety of hands-on drama workshops and artist-in-residency programs for children from Pre-K to 12th grade. All programs include study guides, an abundance of audience participation, and a positive approach toward learning. Their mission is to “open the doors between education and imagination. . .and bring literature, geography and history to life.” Each school’s curriculum comes alive on stage, as Kidworks promotes self-esteem, multicultural awareness and respect.

Touring Performances:
Peace Tales Around the World: Come travel to Africa, the Middle East, India, China, Mexico and Native America, as we promote multicultural tolerance and non-violence through stories and traditions. (Max 250 children / Pre-K-6th grade)

The Pharaoh, The Sphinx and the Curse of the Mummy: Join Kidworks in a "hands-on" journey through Ancient Egypt, as we build pyramids, act out a mummification ceremony, dance around King Tut, bow to Cleopatra and learn Egyptian Belly Dancing and Doumbek drumming. (3rd-8th grade)

Workshops & Residencies include: Intro to Drama, Shakespeare, Games around the World, African Drumming and Dancing, Holidays Around the World, Create-Your-Own-Show, Hispanic Heritage, Women's History, Self-Esteem/Character Counts, Special Education and more.
