Artist / Program Description

The rhythms of Andalusia form the basis for this ensemble’s fiery performance of Spanish guitar, dance, and percussion. The concept of Las Guitarras de España is to present a varied program of music and dance. The program features traditional flamenco song forms, original compositions, and flamenco-related guitar music, including classical Spanish and Latin American styles. Las Guitarras is an energetic and lively ensemble featuring a group of talented musicians and dancers. The core of the ensemble features Carlo Basile (guitarist), Carolina Xavier (flamenco dancer), Diego Alonso (guitarist), Doug Brush (percussionist), Patricia Alonso (singer) and Chiara Mangiameli (singer/flamenco dancer).The ensemble can also be expanded to include additional guitarists, dancers, and musicians.

The standard Las Guitarras de España program is a 45-minute performance of flamenco music and dance using terminology in both English and Spanish. Additionally, Las Guitarras de España offers a 45-minute performance that highlights the traditional forms of music and dance as well as original compositions.
