Artist / Program Description

“The buildings are still rocking from your super performance!” - Fountaindale Public Library

Leanne Johnson is lively, entertaining, thought-provoking, and just plain fun! Many of her tales are sprinkled with the musical accompaniment of Celtic harp, bodhran (Irish drum), and assorted noise makers. Since 1989, she has combined her passion for storytelling with her love of music to bring new life to old and original stories. She has shared hundreds of stories with thousands of listeners at schools, libraries, museums, and more. Even middle school students like her! Leanne gracefully balances her performances with humor, intelligence, and rich, age-appropriate language. Words play, verses sing, and toes tap as her characters dance their way along the path of story. How can you resist this much fun?

Leanne is an Illinois state-certified CPDU provider with over 30 different programs & workshops, including: World Folktales, Spooky Stories, Celtic Heart, Courage, Magic of Reading, Wonder of Writing, Summer Reading, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Civil War, Holiday Heartwarmers, Classroom Storytelling, Women of Strength, Character Counts, PBIS, and Tales from the Dockside.

“A great way to get students excited about literature!” - Loves Park Elementary.
