Artist / Program Description

The New Classic Singers is a professional choral ensemble in residence at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage. This adult professional chorus includes conductors, educators, and soloists. The Singers have been lauded for their imaginative programs and performing excellence. They have performed for conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and frequently commission and premiere new works. Music Director Lee R. Kesselman is a conductor, pianist, teacher, and award-winning composer. Accompanist William Buhr appears throughout North America as an accompanist, chamber musician, and clinician. Buhr is the longstanding Principal Accompanist of the Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus.

American Voices features American hymn tunes ("Amazing Grace," "How Can I Keep From Singing," "Shall We Gather at the River," "Shenandoah"), African-American spirituals ("Elijah Rock," "Steal Away," "Ain’t Got Time to Die"), and contemporary works by North American composers Daniel Brewbaker, R. Murray Schafer, Stephen Paulus, and Lee Kesselman.
A Choral Tapestry features folk tunes, spirituals, and European sacred masterpieces.
December concerts include carols and holiday music.
