Artist / Program Description
The Oriana Singers perform a breathtaking range of a cappella songs. These six singers (three men and three women) will wow audiences with music from Henry VII to James Taylor, from madrigals to Macedonian folk songs, and from classical to jazz. Since their first concert in 1979, The Oriana Singers have performed at hundreds of concerts. International prize winners, they have appeared twice at the Ravinia Festival, and at the Lyric Opera House, the Shubert Theater, and the Auditorium Theater as guest artists with the Joffrey Ballet. Their tour schedule has taken them to eighteen states, Central America, and Europe. No mics, no props, no gimmicks – just the human voice.
The Oriana Singers touring program presents a variety of music for unaccompanied voices. With a basis in classically trained singing, the ensemble performs Renaissance madrigals, folksong arrangements, and classical music. Their programs end with a selection of music in close harmony: vocal jazz, popular song, and other lighter music. The Singers can also present musical programs designed for student audiences; grade school through high school.
