Artist / Program Description
Perceptual Motion, Inc. is a dynamic multigenerational company whose dancers perform with heart, grace, and a deep willingness to bring joy to people's lives. Artistic Director Lin Shook’s award-winning choreography centers on communicating, celebrating, and expressing life. Dancers aged twenty-three to eighty-five bring a wealth of expressive wisdom from their own life experience. By transforming dance’s abstract imagery into personal experiences, the choreography bridges generations, ideas, and levels of dance awareness. This broad appeal is realized through public performances and performances for children and elders. PMI is experienced in working with inner-city and rural populations.
PMI was Curator's Choice for Around the Coyote Festival 2004 and appeared on WTTW's Chicago Dance Project and Art Beat. It has also performed at Dance Chicago, Harold Washington Library Theatre, Old Town School of Folk Music and Ruth Page Theatre.
"The spectrum of ages and movement ability creates an inspiring dichotomy…..ethereal and real." (Lucia Mauro, Chicago Tribune)
