Randy Erwin

Artist / Program Description

With Randy Erwin, you'll get forty-five minutes of cowboy music, folklore, and history - plus rope tricks!

Learn about the origins of cowboy culture, the animals they worked with and fought against, the physics of trick-roping (and how to do it yourself), and participate in music that has made the cowboy such a special part of American history. As the yodeling voice of Alameda Slim in Walt Disney's Home on the Range, Randy was able to showcase his critically acclaimed talent worldwide. He has also performed at Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, Wembley Arena, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the New Orleans Jazz Festival. He has made broadcast appearances on BBC radio and television, National Public Radio, and the ABC Radio Network, and he has four albums along with music in several film scores.

"Randy Erwin...has one of the most versatile, far-ranging voices this side of Bobby McFerrin." - Don Heckman, Los Angeles Times

"As yodelers go, Erwin is tops." - David Zimmerman, USA Today

"It's difficult to fully describe how unlikely an experience listening to Randy Erwin's seamlessly yodeled renditions of faded-made-fresh melodies is, how unlikely an experience Randy Erwin is, and how unlikely is the depth and resonance of satisfaction yielded by that experience." - Tom Maurstad, The Dallas Observer
