Founded in 1975, the Springfield Ballet Company (SBC) is a twenty-five-member civic ballet company with a strong annual repertoire, including Rockballet (multi-media contemporary dance performance featuring rock music), The Nutcracker, Romeo + Juliet , Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella.

The SBC’s diversity is evident in its range of programs, which feature classical ballet, contemporary ballet, jazz, modern, tap, theatre, and character dance. Committed to education as well as entertainment, the SBC produces annual educational programs and offers dance residencies and workshops throughout the community and in area schools. In addition to its season, the SBC performs at festivals, schools, senior centers, and conventions, and gives lecture demonstrations which can be created or adapted to best suit the needs of the presenter.

The SBC is dedicated to offering opportunities for all members of the central Illinois community to be educated in and entertained by the art of dance.
