Grants are available to not-for-profit arts service organizations in Illinois for quality programming that provides services to members of the arts community. The Illinois Arts Council (IAC) is supportive of programs which eliminate attitudinal barriers relating to the creative capabilities of those with physical, mental or emotional challenges. Funds are available for activities occurring between September 1, 2004 and August 31, 2005. Organizations not specifically providing serivces to the arts and cultural community, may be eligible for Program Grants instead. Grants to Arts Service Organizations are designed to provide general operating or project support to organizations which provide specialized services to the arts and cultural community. Services offered can include, but are not limited to, professional development and technical assistance, including marketing, legal and financial assistance; networking opportunities; educational forums and workshops; and printed materials including calendars, newsletters, and other publications. Contact IAC staff to discuss the eligibility of your organization. Organizations with cash operating expenses of up to $50,000 may request no more than 15% of the organization’s last completed fiscal year actual cash operating expenses for public arts programming. Organizations with cash operating expenses over $50,000 and up to $100,000 may request up to 12% of the organization’s last completed fiscal year actual cash operating expenses for public arts programming. Requests may begin at $7,500 for all organizations in this budget level. Organizations with cash operating expenses over $100,000 may request up to 10% of the organization's last completed fiscal year actual cash operating expenses for public arts programming. Requests may begin at $12,000 for all organizations in this budget level but not exceed $30,000. Applicants may request less than the formula permits. However, the minimum request amount is $500. In-kind contributions will be considered as an important part of community support and administrative strength in the review process but not as a factor in the request amount. NOTE: Regional or National Arts Service Organizations must base their request amount on the portion of their operating budget which reflects their Illinois expenses.
