Deadline Extended: Open Dialogue 2010 Scholarships

Scholarships are now available through the Illinois Arts Council in collaboration with Arts Midwest for artists and nonprofit organizations from Illinois seeking to attend The Association of American Cultures (TAAC) Open Dialogue 2010. The symposium, celebrating TAAC’s 25th Anniversary, will be held August 12-14, 2010, in Chicago, Illinois.

Eligibility

  • Organizations must be incorporated as a nonprofit in the State of Illinois.
  • Artists must have been Illinois residents for at least one year prior to the application deadline. 

Levels of Support

  • Illinois artists and representatives from nonprofit organizations travelling sixty miles or more (each way) to Open Dialogue 2010 can apply for up to $700 to support expenses including registration, hotel for two nights, and travel.
  • Illinois artists and representatives from nonprofit organizations travelling fewer than sixty miles (each way) to Open Dialogue 2010 can apply for up to $325 to support expenses including registration and travel.

Deadline

  • The deadline for application is Monday, July 19, 2010. Applications received after 5:00pm on Monday, July 19, 2010 will not be eligible.

How to Apply

 

For Organizations

To apply, please submit a letter indicating:

  1. The request amount.
  2. Why your organization is interested and how participation in TAAC’s Open Dialogue 2010 will be of benefit.
    • Be specific. 
    • Identify the individual you would like to send, their job title, and a brief description of their work duties and background.
    • Explain why you have chosen to send this individual.
  3. Contact information, including:
    • Organization name
    • Contact person
    • Address
    • Email
    • Phone
    • Website
  4. A budget indicating your anticipated expenses. For those travelling sixty miles or more (each way) to Open Dialogue 2010, please include a count of the miles to be travelled from your location to the symposium location.

For Artists

To apply, please submit a letter indicating:

  1. The request amount.
  2. Why are you interested, and how participation in TAAC’s Open Dialogue 2010 will benefit you.
