Poetry Out Loud: Participate!

Poetry Out Loud is run statewide throughout Illinois by the Illinois Arts Council and seven regional partners.

To participate in the official Illinois Poetry Out Loud competition, please:

1. Read the NEA's Guidance on Eligibility, and then
2. Contact the Illinois Poetry Out Loud Regional Partner nearest you.  

If your school is registered, each participating teacher will receive:

• a Poetry Out Loud Teacher's Guide that includes;
• lesson Plans,
• a DVD with examples of best performances, and
• classroom posters

These resources can also be found on the Poetry Out Loud website at www.poetryoutloud.org. The teacher’s guide will tell you all you need to know about carrying out Poetry Out Loud in the classroom.
